LONDRES (AP) – El gobierno británico el lunes propuso nueva legislación que reescribiría unilateralmente las reglas de comercio post-Brexit para Irlanda del Norte, a pesar de la oposición de algunos legisladores del Reino Unido y oficiales de la UE quienes dicen que la movida viola el derecho internacional.
El proyecto propuesto busca remover los chequeos de aduanas sobre algunos bienes que entran a Irlanda del Norte desde el resto del Reino Unido. Eso se antepondrá a partes del tratado de comercio que el Primer Ministro Boris Johnson firmó con la Unión Europea hace menos de dos años.
El gobierno de Bretaña mantuvo su movida que está justificada bajo el derecho internacional a causa de “situación genuinamente excepcional” y la Secretaria del Exterior Liz Truss condenó a la UE por bloquear un acuerdo negociado. La Comisión Europea dijo que ella tomaría acción legal contra el Reino Unido.
Las reglas de comercio existentes “proveen a los operadores de negocios en Irlanda del Norte con acceso al mercado singular de la UE por bienes. La actitud del gobierno del Reino Unido pone este acceso – y las oportunidades relacionadas – en riesgo”, dijo el Vice Presidente de la Comisión Europea Maros Sefcovic.

On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA?
